Be Grateful for Vegetables – They are Fun!

Recently, @BetteMidler posted this picture on Twitter – a BrocCollie and Collieflower!

This photo made me smile. In fact, I tried to re-create it…

Look for fun activities in your life with those you love!

Eat more veggies. Improve your diets. Have fun with vegetables!

Grateful For Independence

Today I am celebrating my independence from ordinary life as I continue my walk in a State of Gratitude. Approximately one and one-half years ago I started my pathway to Gratitude and it changed my life. I can tell you story after story about so many moments of pure wonder and delight in my life now that I am on this new pathway. I am not the only person who is practicing Gratitude these days. Check out Instagram posts such as #gratitudemakestheattitude, and many others to learn that practicing Gratitude provides:

  • portals to suddenly open in your life for a brief moment, then close up again
  • experiences of serendipity during a day when you least expect something awesome
  • insights into meaningful ordinary experiences that bring great joy and pleasure
  • sheer happiness when engaging with friends, family, and loved ones
  • deeper understandings of life events, and relationships
  • genuine satisfaction with everyday interactions with your neighbors, and strangers
  • opportunities for deeper study of spirituality, God, and various religious practices

My blogs will continue to fall into three broad categories: #gratitudezero (pets, foods, places, simple things), #gratitudelite (experiences with people, everyday events, momentary insights), and #gratitudeultra (often resulting from a spiritual or academic inquiry into the deeper origins of gratitude).

But today I hope to remind everyone that Gratitude will bring you a new found independence within your own life. Why?

Because when you are grateful you are more positive, more hopeful, more joyful, and more thankful for what you have in your life.

Practicing Gratitude replaces the negativity, the fear, the worry, the sadness, the anxiety, and even pathways leading to depression in your life.

I invite you to try it yourself! Be grateful! Be positive! Become more independent through your new outlook on life!

Try it and let me know how your own attitude begins to change…

Happy Independence Day to You through Gratitude!

I’m Grateful for Slurry Sealing

It seems that all too often we take ordinary city services for granted. Recently, my city Engineering Division performed “slurry sealing” on our city streets. It was fun to watch the drivers, walkers, bikers, dogs, baby buggies, and, of course car drivers work around the slurry trucks to try to slurry our city! In the end, everyone worked together to beautify our community. Note: other communities may call this “sealing streets”.

After this experience, I have a new appreciation for traffic control barricades, and City Project Managers who kindly managed everyone to complete this improvement project! Be grateful and give gratitude for city services. They have a tough job of “people control” to lay the rubber down, seal cracks, and improve the pavements on which we drive daily.

Give thanks today for “Slurry Sealing”!

Gratitude For Big Puppy Curiosity

Over the holiday I took our big puppy, Augustino, to see the ocean for his first time as he is smart and we love to watch him explore through new experiences. Of course the professor in me believes he learns and acquires motivation through anticipation of rewards, and sensations of pleasure that correlate with happiness. Thus far, his motivations seem to be linked to “toys” rather than “foods”. Just like people, it is important during his early development to foster curiosity and exploratory behaviors. I admit I was disappointed that he did not seem interested in the ocean waves this first time, rather he loved to watch the other dogs and people. Maybe he will love the waves the next time?

What Are You Waiting For? (Video)

We wait, we dream, we plan, but we need to “seize the day”! Be courageous. Make memories. Maybe we need to follow the example of surfers who wait for just the right wave to ride on into life. A similar concept was described in text on a posting of February 21, 2021, also titled “What Are You Waiting For?

This posting is classified as #gratitudezero, following the categories described in the February 28, 2021 post titled, Your Choice: Gratitude Zero, Gratitude Lite, or Gratitude Ultra.

Enjoy the sites and sounds of the surf as you “Seize the Day”, “Seize Your Day” and make memories for which you will be grateful!

When Life Feels Like a Maze – Dog Video

During the winter of 2021, Indiana had a lot of snow. Rather than see the snow as blocking the day, Dan had some fun designing a maze for his dogs. This post is classified as #gratitudezero following the categories posted on February 28, 2021 in a post titled, Your Choice: Gratitude Zero, Gratitude Lite, and Gratitude Ultra. I hope this video brings you JOY!

Pets Give Us Joy (Audio)

This post first appeared on February 27, 2021 before I developed the system to classify different types of #gratitude in a post on February 28, 2021 titled, Your Choice: Gratitude Zero, Gratitude Lite, or Gratitude Ultra. I classify this post as #gratitudezero although it approaches #gratitudelite if you spend much time thinking about the statistics presented.

This posting is an audio version for persons on the go who do not have time to read, or may have disabling conditions so that they can not read. Enjoy this post and give gratitude for our pets as well as our children.

Gratitude Hunters (Audio)

On March 10, 2021 one of my followers spotted a car and sent me this photo. It is amazing to watch this #gratitude community grow and share. Below is an updated audio version of the first posting. Following my February 28, 2021 posting titled, Your Choice: Gratitude Zero, Gratitude Lite, or Gratitude Ultra, this post is #gratitudezero.

I invite everyone to continue to “hunt” for gratitude in your life. Enjoy this story! And, enjoy listening to the story rather than reading about it!

Your Choice: Gratitude Zero, Gratitude Lite, or Gratitude Ultra (Audio)

After 32 posts on #gratitude I developed this classification system to assist us in understanding different types of #gratitude. On February 28, 2021 I posted the narrative titled, Your Choice: Gratitude Zero, Gratitude Lite, or Gratitude Ultra. To date, there are now well over 60 posts and I now label each topic posted for ease of understanding each type of gratitude. I hope this will be helpful to all as we continue our journey and follow our pathways to joy and fulfillment. On March 9, 2021, I posted an organizational Model within GratitudeSquared.com to label all of the posts to date. Henceforth, I will tag the type of gratitude within each posting. For example, this post is tagged as #gratitudeultra.

There is no better or lesser type of gratitude, just more momentary or sporadic, versus deeper and more emotionally long lasting forms of gratitude.

For individuals who prefer to listen to posts, or who prefer to experience posting through sight and sound, I offer this audio version of the three categories of gratitude: #gratitudezero, #gratitudelite, or #gratitudeultra.

Each and every day it is always your choice to find your #joy.

#Gratitudezero or #Gratitudelite or #Gratitudeultra Your Choice!
